Old VeeDub won't start..?

Postby Paladin » Sun Feb 21, 2010 2:30 am

I have a problem with my GF's VW. It's a 1971 Ghia, with the 1600cc motor. It's been sitting for about 6 years, and we've been putting it back together, but we can't get it to start. The engine turns over, but won't fire up. We have replaced, with new parts, the carb, fuel pump, serpentine belt, battery, spark plugs, coil, fuel filter, and fuel hoses. The distributor was replaced by someone else just before the car was parked. Anyone have any ideas? I have a feeling it's going to be something so stupid it'll make me feel ridiculous. Thanks in advance for any suggestions!
